Not far from Murgon is Bjelke-Petersen Dam named after the Queensland Premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen who lived in the area.It is built on Barkers Creek a major tributary of Barambah Creek and the wall of earth and rockfill is 540m long and 34m high. The water is for town and irrigation purposes but the Yallakool Camping Grounds are useful for family outings. This is where we have stayed a few times when returning to Murgon for family functions.

the dam is used a lot for fishing and water sports but was only at 4%  capacity when we were there this time

Have stayed in this cabin a couple of times..very comfortable.

View along Lake Barambah from our cabin balcony.Remember this is only 4% full.

Looking towards the dam wall from the cabin balcony though it is not visible.

Sunset from the balcony

King parrots, male and female , enjoying chewing on a biscuit.

On the rail with peanuts.
